they may elect to become Trench. Even if lime, Guignard were accepted as a Trench subject she could only claim such portion of her deceased husband's estate as German law in respect of intestacy provides for the widow. The portion assigned to the children would remain subject to the General charge under the Treaty of Versailles unless the authorities choose to accept French domestic law in the matter and place the funds in suspense under the administra- tion of Mine, Guignard until her children reach their major- ity.
The only solution I can see of the impasse is to wait until the question of jurisdiction in respect of the Shanghai Register of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation is settled and then to refer the claim to the Court for necessitous cases under the Peace Treaty (Mr. Justice Younger's Tribunal). I am well aware of the difficult circumstances in which line. Gaignard finds herself and I should be glad if I.M.M.'s Consul General could be
assured that if the jurisdiction over the Shanghai register is vested in the Custodian in Hongkong, me. Guignard's claim will obtain the most favourable consideration in my
power.
